Cockroach Janta Party petition

Cockroach Janta Party, the newly launched online satirical movement launched just a few days ago, has demanded the resignation of Union Minister and Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the alleged NEET paper leak. The party's founder Abhijeet Dipke has shared a petition link on his X account and asked the followers to sign it. In a video message, he said, "Mujhe lagta hai ab kuch asli kaam karne ka waqt aagya hai jiske liye humne ye movement shuru kiya tha." (sic). The CJP has surpassed ruling party BJP's Instagram follower count and has hit around 20 million.

A template of the petition shows the title 'Petition to Sack the Education Minister' and it reads, "The education system is compromised. From the tragic loss of students who died by suicide, to the millions of futures broken by a decade of paper leak, this failure cannot go ignored. There must be consequences. Sign below to demand the immediate removal of the Education Minister." (sic)

Abhijeet Dipke urged viewers to sign the petition, making an appeal for them to come forward in large numbers to support the cause. The time has come to make system accountable, he said, adding that the future of more than 22 lakh students have been put at stake. "We should raise our voice together so that those students who faced injustice may get justice," he said in the video.

The NEET-UG examination for admission to undergraduate medical courses, conducted on May 3, was cancelled two days later following allegations of a paper leak. The Centre subsequently ordered a comprehensive CBI investigation into the alleged irregularities surrounding the exam. Reports of students dying by suicide in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan also emerged following NEET-UG paper cancellation.

CJP founder's parents says don't want him in politics

Abhijeet Dipke, a student at Boston University and a former associate of Aam Aadmi Party, launched the satirical digital campaign barely a week ago. Since then, the platform has gained massive traction online, with its Instagram account crossing 19 million followers. However, Abhijeet Dipke's parensts are worried that their son could land in legal trouble or even face arrest over his political satire content.

Speaking to a Marathi news channel, Dipke’s parents, Bhagwan Dipke and Anita Dipke from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, said they are increasingly worried about their son’s rising popularity and growing involvement in political commentary, PTI reported.

“If we look at politics today, fear is natural, no matter how many followers he has. In one of his interviews, he himself spoke about the fear of being arrested after returning to India. We keep reading about such incidents in newspapers,” Bhagwan Dipke said.

His mother, Anita Dipke, said she wants her son to stay away from politics and focus on building a stable career instead. “We only want him to return home safely. Whether he continues in politics will be his decision, but we do not want him to go down that path. I do not know whether he will listen to us or not. I will not support him in this. I am worried about him,” she said.

The parents also revealed that they first learned about the Cockroach Janta Party through neighbours and relatives. “Later, one of my grandchildren told me that he has more followers on social media than many well-known people in the country. Earlier, he had worked with Aam Aadmi Party. Even then, I had told him that we are not into politics and that he should focus on a regular job,” Anita said.

Bhagwan Dipke admitted that his son’s sudden rise in popularity has caused sleepless nights. “I’m worried because he has now become famous. And such people often get arrested. I have not slept for the last two nights thinking about what could happen to him. I hate politics and have no interest in it,” he said.

How was Cockroach Janta Party founded?

The ‘Cockroach Janta Party’ trend began after a controversy over remarks allegedly made by Surya Kant during a hearing on a plea seeking senior designation for a lawyer. According to Dipke, the idea took shape after reports claimed the Chief Justice had used terms like “parasites” and “cockroaches” while criticising people entering the legal profession with fake degrees.

The Chief Justice later clarified that he had been misquoted and said the remarks were specifically aimed at individuals obtaining “fake and bogus degrees.” Despite the clarification, the ‘Cockroach Janta Party’ rapidly gained traction online, with the cockroach symbol turning into a viral meme across social media through satire, graphics, political commentary and parody content.

The platform also faced regulatory action after its X account was withheld in India in response to a legal demand. Hours later, Dipke announced the launch of another account titled 'Cockroach Is Back'.
