Drishyam 3 OTT release new details: When and where to watch Mohanlal, Jeetu Joseph's Malayalam thriller movie after its theatrical run

Malayalam superstar Mohanlal is all set to return to the big screen with Drishyam 3 on May 21, 2026. Directed by Jeethu Joseph, the film marks the third chapter in one of the most successful thriller franchises. The upcoming movie continues the gripping story of Georgekutty, a character who became hugely popular after the massive success of the earlier two instalments. Along with Malayalam, the film will also release in Telugu, Tamil and Kannada dubbed versions, expanding its reach beyond Kerala.

While fans are eagerly waiting for the theatrical release, updates regarding the film’s OTT premiere have also started circulating online.

Streaming details of Drishyam 3 after theatrical run

According to early reports by ETimes and Times Now, Amazon Prime Video is expected to stream the film after a theatrical window of around 30 to 35 days. If the schedule remains unchanged, Drishyam 3 could reportedly arrive on the platform by the end of June or early July.




The first two films in the Drishyam franchise are already available on Prime Video, and reports suggest that the existing agreement between the makers and the streaming platform continues for the third part as well.

Amid growing speculation about the movie’s post-theatrical rights, Amazon Prime Video recently issued an official public statement confirming its ownership of the film’s digital rights. According to the platform, it is the sole and exclusive holder of all digital rights for Drishyam 3 through a valid agreement signed with Aashirvad Cinemas.



In its statement, the OTT platform clarified that these rights include multiple digital formats such as subscription video-on-demand and other online distribution categories. The statement reads, "Notice is hereby given that Amazon Seller Services Private Limited (Amazon), pursuant to the valid exercise of its rights under subsisting agreements between Aashirvad Cinemas and Amazon, is the sole and exclusive holder of all digital rights (including but not limited to SVOD, TVOD, AVOD, FVOD and EST) in the film Drishyam 3 (Malayalam) (The Film)."

The buzz surrounding Drishyam 3 has been growing rapidly ever since its release date was announced. Interestingly, the film was initially scheduled to hit theatres on April 2, but the release was later postponed. The makers finally locked May 21 as the official release date, which also coincides with Mohanlal’s birthday, making the occasion even more special for fans.

Advance bookings for the thriller have already shown extraordinary momentum. According to Sacnilk, Drishyam 3 has crossed 334,000 ticket sales on BookMyShow, overtaking Patriot to become the second-highest Malayalam pre-seller in the platform’s history. The film currently trails only behind L2: Empuraan, which holds the top record.


The achievement is being seen as particularly big because suspense thrillers usually do not generate the same advance booking frenzy as large-scale action entertainers. Reports suggest that the movie is currently selling close to 30,000 tickets every 24 hours.

In Kerala alone, Day 1 advance bookings have reportedly crossed the Rs 5 crore mark, with more than two lakh tickets already sold. Several early morning fan shows in cities like Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode are said to be sold out, while many other screenings are rapidly filling up as the release date approaches.

With massive expectations, strong advance bookings and huge curiosity around Georgekutty’s next move, Drishyam 3 is all set to be one of the biggest Malayalam film releases of the year.

According to early estimates by Sacnilk, Drishyam 3 had a strong opening at the box office, earning around Rs 15.85 crore net in India on Day 1 from 5,506 shows. The film saw especially good response in Kerala, taking its India gross collection to nearly Rs 18.37 crore. It also performed well overseas, collecting around Rs 25 crore gross internationally and pushing its worldwide Day 1 collection to approximately Rs 43.37 crore. Stay tuned!
