3 broken marriages, 17 years, but one big regret: Madhavan, Mohanlal co-actress speaks out - 'I could have done so much more with my life, but I couldn't.' Who is Meera Vasudevan?
Veteran actress Meera Vasudevan, known for her work across Indian cinema and television, has revealed deep regret over 17 years lost in three failed marriages. She feels these relationships lacked respect and emotional support, hindering her profe...

Meera Vasudevan says, 'wasted 17 years on 3 stupid marriages.'
In a conversation with Dhanya Varma, Meera spoke candidly about how her personal life affected both her emotional well-being and professional journey. Looking back, the actress said, "I often tell my son... I wasted 17 years of my life on three stupid marriages. I could have achieved so much during that time by working intelligently."According to Meera, those years could have been spent building her career, cinema, focusing on fitness, strengthening family bonds and creating a healthier social circle. Instead, she said she remained in relationships where she did not feel truly valued. The actress admitted that the realisation still hurts because she believes she lost valuable years that could have helped her grow both personally and professionally.
"I could have done so much more with my life, but I couldn't. I could have spent a lot of time with my father, mother, and sister. Instead, I wasted that time on others... I wasted so much time in relationships with people who never really took me seriously or respected me," she added.
On Meera Vasudevan's personal and work fronts
For the unversed, Meera first entered the limelight through a popular ICC Set Max advertisement that made her instantly recognisable to audiences. She later made her Bollywood debut in Rules: Pyaar Ka Superhit Formula opposite Milind Soman. While the film gave her visibility, it was Malayalam cinema that eventually brought her critical acclaim and a loyal fan following. Her breakthrough came with Thanmathra, directed by Blessy and starring Mohanlal. The emotional drama became one of the most appreciated Malayalam films of its time, and Meera’s portrayal of Lekha Ramesan received praise from both critics and audiences. The role also earned her the Best Female New Face Award at the Ujala-Asianet Awards.
Over the years, Meera continued acting in films such as Oruvan, Ekantham, Kuttymama, Thakkol and Payakappal. She also worked with Madhavan in the psychological horror-thriller 13B: Fear Has a New Address.
While her film career remained steady, Meera eventually found massive popularity on television. She became a household name through the Malayalam serial Kudumbavilakku, where she played the lead role of Sumithra. Her performance connected strongly with family audiences and established her as one of Malayalam television’s most recognisable stars.
The actress is currently seen playing Sujatha in Madhuranombarakattu, continuing her successful television journey.
Meera’s personal life, however, remained under constant public attention. She first married Vishal Agarwal, son of cinematographer Ashok Kumar, in 2005. The marriage ended in 2010. She later married actor John Kokken in 2012, and the couple had a son together before separating in 2016.
