Congress welcomes SC relief to Pawan Khera, accuses Assam govt of harassment
The Supreme Court granted anticipatory bail to Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera. The party stated the Assam government sought to intimidate Khera. Congress leader Abhishek Singhvi highlighted the court's observations on the Assam Chief Minister...

While hailing the decision, Congress parliamentarian Abhishek Singhvi, who was the lawyer of Khera in the Supreme Court, said, "Whenever defamation charges arise in such cases, the question that comes up is: Can inquiry not be conducted without arrest? But in this case, nearly 60 police personnel were sent to the home of one individual, who holds a big name in society and political circles. The reason for sending such a large number of police was solely to intimidate and harass."

Singhvi also said the Assam CM should reflect on the observations that the apex court has made about his conduct. "The Supreme Court has quoted the chief minister of Assam in three pages. On the other hand, there are many such things that neither the court can quote nor can I speak about," he said. "In such a situation, the chief minister of Assam should consider whether it is befitting for a person holding a constitutional position to do this? I want the chief minister of Assam to seriously reflect on this matter and express regret."
