Mahindra turned 71 today
Industrialist Anand Mahindra marked his 71st birthday on May 1 with a heartfelt message shared on social media platform X, where he reflected on gratitude, human connection, and the deeper meaning of relationships.

Acknowledging the overwhelming stream of greetings he received, Mahindra conveyed that while responding to each message individually was not possible, he felt sincerely thankful for the outpouring of affection. He noted that despite the platform’s often impersonal and polarising nature, moments like these transform it into something far more intimate—almost like a close-knit community filled with warmth and goodwill.

He also pointed out the unique significance of his birthday coinciding with important occasions. In Mumbai, May 1 is celebrated as Maharashtra Day, while globally it is observed as International Workers’ Day, adding a broader sense of purpose and pride to the day.

This year held an additional milestone with the inauguration of the ‘Missing Link’ project, a major infrastructure development designed to improve connectivity between Mumbai and Pune. The ambitious network of bridges and tunnels is expected to significantly ease travel along the route, symbolising progress and seamless connection in a literal sense.

Drawing from this development, Mahindra reflected metaphorically on the “missing links” in personal lives. He spoke about the often-overlooked individuals and relationships that quietly support us during challenging times—those invisible emotional bridges that hold people together when it matters most. He emphasised the importance of recognising these connections, rebuilding strained bonds, and expressing appreciation to those who have stood by us."As I turn 71, it feels fitting to reflect on the ‘missing links’ in our own lives…the people and bonds that have been our unseen support, our emotional bridges through difficult times. And the importance of rebuilding those links, and expressing our gratitude," he wrote.

Concluding his reflection, Mahindra extended a thoughtful wish to everyone—that they rediscover and reconnect with the meaningful relationships in their own lives, especially those that have provided silent strength and support during moments of need.
