KKR's Narine dismantles LSG in IPL super over shootout
Lucknow sent Nicholas Pooran and Aiden Markram to bat, with Rishabh Pant next in line. Narine took charge with the ball and turned the game instantly.
Pooran was bowled off the very first delivery while attempting a slog sweep. Pant could only take a single before Markram’s innings ended through a sharp relay effort near the rope involving Rovman Powell and Rinku Singh. That sequence meant Lucknow managed just one run in their Super Over — the lowest total recorded in such a situation in IPL history.
KKR vs LSG: Rinku wastes no time in sealing win in super over
Kolkata needed four runs to win and sent out Rinku alongside Powell. Prince Yadav was handed the responsibility of defending the target after Mohsin Khan, who had earlier picked up five wickets, was substituted out.
The chase lasted a single ball. Prince missed his yorker and Rinku opened the face of the bat to guide it past point for four, ending the contest instantly.
It completed an outstanding outing for Rinku. Earlier, he had struck four sixes in the last over of the innings to push Kolkata beyond 150, finishing unbeaten on 83 from 50 deliveries — his highest T20 score. He also made a major impact in the field, taking four catches during the match.
LSG Mohsin Khan’s five-for leaves KKR in trouble early
Before that turnaround, Kolkata had struggled badly. Mohsin Khan produced a spell of 5 for 23, the best bowling figures of the season so far, and dismantled the top order.
Tim Seifert fell first, chipping a catch to cover. Ajinkya Rahane followed for 10 after mistiming a shot to mid-on. Angkrish Raghuvanshi was given out for obstructing the field on nine in a decision that drew attention, and Powell soon edged behind off Mohsin. At 31 for 4 in 6.1 overs, Kolkata were under heavy pressure.
Cameron Green attempted to shift momentum, hitting three sixes in a brisk 34 off 21 balls, but Mohsin returned to remove him as well. The left-arm quick completed his five-wicket haul by dismissing Anukul Roy first ball, leaving Kolkata staring at a modest total.
KKR vs LSG: Rinku Singh and the late surge
Rinku held one end together and found support in brief partnerships — 20 runs with Ramandeep Singh and an unbeaten 62-run stand with Narine.
He reached his half-century in 42 balls with a drive off Shami in the 19th over. What followed was a decisive shift. After surviving a review in the final over, he attacked Digvesh Rathi, clearing the boundary four times in a row — long-on, deep extra cover, long-on again and cow corner.
That burst added 26 runs in the over and lifted Kolkata past 150, a total that had seemed unlikely when they were seven wickets down.
Lucknow’s pursuit of 156 began with the early loss of Mitchell Marsh to Vaibhav Arora. Pant and Markram then steadied things with a 57-run partnership.
Markram made 31 before being caught at long-off. Pant scored 42 but did not fully accelerate before falling to Narine, with the decision confirmed on review.
Pooran’s struggles continued as he fell cheaply to Varun Chakaravarthy, putting the chase under strain. Ayush Badoni (24) and Himmat Singh (19) counterattacked to keep hopes alive, while George Linde added useful runs before becoming one of Rinku’s four catches.
KKR vs LSG Super Over after dinal over chaos
Lucknow needed 17 from the last over bowled by Kartik Tyagi. The over had several twists. A no-ball gave an extra opportunity, which Himmat struck for four on the free hit before he was caught at deep square-leg.
With eight required from four balls, Prince Yadav could manage only a bye, leaving Shami to face. After a dot delivery, Shami struck the final ball over long-off for six, bringing scores level.
That effort, however, was not enough. Lucknow could not recover in the Super Over as Narine and Rinku combined to complete a turnaround that lifted Kolkata while leaving Lucknow at the bottom of the table.
