Sai Pallavi is all set to make her Bollywood debut alongside Aamir Khan’s son Junaid Khan in Ek Din. The film is scheduled to hit theatres on May 1, and ahead of its release, the makers hosted a musical evening in Mumbai titled Ek Din Ki Mehfil, celebrating the film through live performances. While many videos from the event are circulating online, one emotional clip has especially caught attention. Directed by Sunil Pandey, the film is a remake of the 2016 Thai film One Day.

Aamir Khan breaks down after watching Ek Din

The event turned memorable when Aamir Khan was seen getting emotional during the performances. Sitting beside his son Junaid Khan and co-star Sai Pallavi, the superstar appeared visibly moved and was caught on camera wiping away tears. The moment quickly went viral.

During the evening, Aamir didn’t hold back in praising Sai Pallavi. Speaking about her performance, he described her as the 'best actress in the country today'. At the same time, he added a lighter touch while talking about Junaid, joking that his son has also done quite well in the film.

He said, "Junaid ne bhi acha khasa kaam kiya hai."

More about Ek Din

Ek Din marks an important step in Junaid Khan’s growing career, while also introducing Sai Pallavi to Hindi cinema audiences. Directed by Sunil Pandey, the romantic drama revolves around an unusual love story. The trailer hints at Junaid playing a reserved and slightly awkward man who develops feelings for Sai Pallavi’s cheerful and lively character, promising a mix of emotion and charm.

One of the film’s most talked-about aspects has been its unconventional release strategy. The makers opened advance bookings a full 39 days before the release, a move rarely seen in the industry. Explaining the decision, Aamir shared that the idea came from within the team.

He told Just Too Filmy, "The fact is that Ek Din is a very small film, in the sense that it has got actors who are very new. Junaid has barely started his career, and Sai [Pallavi] is doing her first film in Hindi. So I thought this film would need a little more time to get traction. So the earlier we start, the better. It is a story that I believe, and I am quite a mushy audience."

Aamir also mentioned that starting early would help the film gradually gain traction. He added that the story is deeply emotional and something he personally connects with, describing himself as someone who enjoys heartfelt narratives.

Produced under Aamir Khan Productions, the film is backed by Aamir along with Mansoor Khan and Aparna Purohit. With its emotional core, fresh pairing, and growing buzz, Ek Din is all set to be one of the most anticipated releases of the season. Stay tuned!
