When Om Shanti Om was released almost 2 decades ago, no one knew that it become such a huge blockbuster. Starring superstar Shah Rukh Khan in the lead, the romantic comedy, directed by filmmaker Farah Khan, also marked the Bollywood debut of Deepika Padukone. Arjun Rampal, Shreyas Talpade and Kirron Kher were also a part of the movie. Besides on-fleek performances from the cast, Om Shanti Om is also remembered for its hard-hitting dialogues that has left an imprint on the audiences.

Now, the Academy Awards has paid a special tribute to one of Shah Rukh Khan’s hit dialogue from Om Shanti Om, prompting a response from King Khan himself. A couple of days ago, the official Instagram handle of The Acdemy, posted a snippet from the film, featuring SRK in his character Om, an actor delivering a speech while receiving an award. As we now know it, the particular monologue has become iconic, often used as references on social media or in everyday conversations.

The Om Shanti Om monogue by Shah Rukh Khan is, ‘Itni shiddat se maine tumhe paane ki koshish ki hai, ki har zarre ne mujhe tumse milane ki sazish ki hai. Kehte hain kisi dil ko shiddat se chaho toh poori kainat usse tumse milane ki koshish mein lag jaati hai’, which translates to ‘I have tried to find you with such intensity that every particle in the universe has conspired to bring you closer to me. They say that if you desire something with all your heart, the entire universe begins to conspire to help you achieve it.’

Although said in a movie, the monogoue has resonated across fans and critics alike for its sheer depth. It expresses the idea that when someone desires something from the bottom of their heart and with complete conviction, the universe pays heeds to the desire and aligns in unexpected ways to make the dream ome true. It puts value on the power of hope, self-belief, persistence, and never giving up, elements that ironically holds true for Shah Rukh Khan himself.

In response to the honour, Shah Rukh Khan re-shared the screenshot of the post on his Instagram Stories expressing gratitude to The Academy for taking him on a nostalgic ride down the memory lane. The Bollywood Baadsha ended the note by admitting that the recognition has truly made him feel like the king of the world.

Workwise, Shah Rukh Khan will next be seen in director Siddharth Anand’s King. The film also starring Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Raghav Juyal, Arshad Warsi and Jaideep Ahlawat in key roles marks the big-screen debut of SRK’s daughter Suhana Khan. It is scheduled to release in theatres on December 24, 2026.
