The legendary Asha Bhosle, whose voice defined generations of Indian music, leaves behind a timeless legacy. The iconic singer passed away today (April 12) at the age of 92. Her son Anand Bhosle confirmed the news, stating that she is no more and that her last rites will be held at 4 pm tomorrow at Shivaji Park in Mumbai. The entire nation is in shock, with fans and the film industry mourning the loss of a truly irreplaceable voice.

Tributes pour in from across the country

Soon after the news broke, social media was flooded with tributes from celebrities and fans alike, all remembering the impact Asha Bhosle had on their lives and Indian music.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Jr NTR expressed his grief, saying he was deeply saddened by her passing. He described her voice as the soul of Indian cinema for decades, adding that it touched millions of hearts and will continue to inspire future generations.



Neetu Kapoor called her demise the “end of an era,” sharing an emotional note that reflected the collective feeling of loss across the country.

Akshay Kumar also paid tribute, saying that words fall short when expressing such a loss. He wrote, "No words can convey the loss I feel at Asha Bhosle ji’s demise. Unki surily awaaz hamesha hamesha ke liye amar rahegi. Om Shanti"

Filmmaker Karan Johar remembered her as a once-in-a-generation artist. He said calling her a legend would be an understatement, as her voice shaped not just one era but multiple generations of cinema. He further added, "I was and have been a massive fan of her voice, her art, her personality…Asha ji, your music will live on forever, and we are blessed to experience the magic you have left behind forever! Rest in peace and power"

Former cricketer Yuvraj Singh shared a more personal memory, recalling how her songs were a constant presence while growing up. He noted that her music fit every emotion, and her passing feels like losing a part of one’s childhood.


Actor Vishnu Manchu echoed similar sentiments, saying that people didn’t just listen to her songs, they lived through them. He described her voice and the era she represented as truly irreplaceable.

Health concerns before her passing

A day before her demise, Asha Bhosle had been admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital. Her granddaughter Zanai Bhosle had earlier shared that the veteran singer was hospitalised due to extreme exhaustion and a chest infection. In her statement, Zanai had requested privacy for the family and expressed hope for recovery. However, the news of her passing came as a heartbreaking update for fans across the world.
