Kamala Harris says she ‘might’ run for president in 2028, sparks fresh speculation
Kamala Harris said on Friday that she “might” run for president in 2028. She told Al Sharpton that she is “thinking about it” during the 2026 National Action Network Convention. Harris repeated, “I might, I might… I’m thinking about it,” when asked if she will run again, as reported by CNN. Harris earlier served as the Democratic presidential nominee in the 2024 election. Her comments come as speculation is growing about her political future.

This speculation increased after she released a campaign memoir in late 2025. She also went on a book tour after the memoir, which kept her in public focus. Harris is scheduled to attend Democratic Party events in four Southern states this month. In an August 2025 interview with Stephen Colbert on CBS, she said she did not “want to go back in the system.”

Possible comeback hint

Later in 2025, she hinted at a possible comeback in an interview with Laura Kuenssberg of BBC. In that interview, Harris said “I am not done.” At the conference on Friday, Harris received a warm welcome from the audience, as stated by CNN. People in the crowd chanted “run again” loudly, briefly interrupting her speech.

Harris said she served four years as vice president and was “a heartbeat away” from the presidency. She explained she spent many hours in her West Wing office near the Oval Office. She added that she also spent time inside the Oval Office and the Situation Room. Harris said she knows what the presidential job is and what it requires. She then talked about the “work that needs to be done” if she decides to run again.

Possible third campaign

Gunning for her third shot at the presidency, Kamala Harris said that the democratic party’s candidature might be too crowded with many faces looking to get the nomination. CNN also reported that Harris has been on the road across the United States for over a year now, with a good amount of time spent in the Southern states. Her assessment, as per CNN, is that the current system is not to the liking of the populace, and the status quo is not working for most citizens.
