Anand Mahindra recently gushed about Jharkhand, an underrated travelling spot
Industrialist Anand Mahindra, widely admired for his love of exploration and for highlighting lesser-known destinations across India, recently turned his attention to an unexpected travel gem. Taking to X, he expressed his admiration for Jharkhand as an appealing holiday choice—one that often goes unnoticed when people map out their trips.

He pointed out that when travellers in India think of vacations, familiar names like Goa, Himachal Pradesh, or Rajasthan usually dominate the conversation. In contrast, Jharkhand seldom finds a place on such itineraries, something he admitted he had also been guilty of overlooking in the past.

His perspective shifted after he came across captivating images shared by the handle IndiaAesthetica, which showcased the scenic beauty of Meghahatuburu. Located in the West Singhbhum district, this hill station is often referred to as the “Hill of Clouds” because of its elevated position and mist-covered surroundings. Rising approximately 4,300 feet above sea level and nestled within the expansive Saranda Forest—a region known for its vast stretches of greenery and hundreds of hills—the destination offers breathtaking sunset views, hidden waterfalls, and an environment that remains largely untouched by heavy tourism.

He also noted that the region’s tourism infrastructure is still quite basic. There are limited luxury accommodations, with most visitors relying on simple guesthouses rather than high-end resorts. Yet, this simplicity adds to its charm, preserving its raw and authentic appeal.

Curious to learn more, he explored other attractions across Jharkhand. He discovered the famed sunrise views of Netarhat, the wildlife-rich Betla National Park, the revered Baidyanath Dham, and the numerous cascading waterfalls around Ranchi. Despite such diverse offerings, the state continues to remain underappreciated among mainstream travellers.

He concluded that Jharkhand holds immense potential for those who seek unique and less crowded destinations. Its understated presence, rather than a lack of attractions, is perhaps the reason it has yet to receive the widespread recognition it truly deserves.
