The milestone underscores a significant acceleration in overseas demand for Indian-made defence equipment, with Singh highlighting it as a sign of growing global confidence in the country’s indigenous capabilities.

Rajnath Singh added, "This big jump of Rs 14,802 crore in defence exports reflects the growing global trust in India's indigenous capabilities and advanced manufacturing strength."
The export performance was driven by a balanced contribution from both state-run and private players. Defence public sector undertakings (DPSUs) accounted for 54.84% of total exports, while private industry contributed 45.16%, reflecting what Singh described as a collaborative and self-reliant defence ecosystem.

India’s defence exports have steadily climbed in recent years, rising from Rs 21,083 crore in 2023–24 to Rs 23,622 crore in 2024–25, before the sharp jump in FY26.
