Mumbai: SpaceX's senior leadership team, including president and chief operating officer Gwynne Shotwell and Starlink vice president (global business) Lauren Dreyer, met telecom minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Wednesday.

The meeting comes as the Elon Musk-led company awaits regulatory approvals to launch services in India.

The government is yet to grant security clearance, though the company had demonstrated the security compliances a few months ago. The proposal is under review.

The Department of Telecommunications is also yet to allocate spectrum to satellite communication firms, including Starlink.

"It was a pleasure to meet Ms. Gwynne Shotwell, President & COO, @SpaceX, Ms. Lauren Dreyer, Vice President, Global Business, @Starlink and the India leadership team today," Scindia said on social media platform X.

No further details of the meeting were disclosed.
