Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2 postpones Ryan Gosling’s new film. ‘How dare you…’ says movie’s directors
Dhurandhar 2's massive success has led to a delay in Ryan Gosling's Project Hail Mary's India release. Directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller acknowledge this shift. They see it as a sign of Indian films gaining global power. This trend starte...

With that being said, Project Hail Mary’s directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller have a reasonable explanation for that. The duo, who recently appeared for an interview with Hindustan Times, revealed that the postponement hinted at the growing popularity of Indian movies globally.
Director jokes amid shifting cinematic power
During the conversation, the directors were given a comparison that a few decades ago, Indian movies shifted their release dates to accommodate a big Hollywood film. Now, the tables appear to have been reversed. To this, Phil Lord responded in a playfully witty way. He jokingly asked, ‘How dare you have your own successful film industry?’
Phil Lord admitted that over the years, Indian movies have witnessed a soft surge in power across the world. Justifying the statement, the director shared that when you take 10 films into account in the United States, out of them, one is almost always a Bollywood movie that plays successfully in the American theatres. Although a certain section of the US population is oblivious to these releases, there is a big audience for Hindi-oriented films in the country.
Bollywood influence in Hollywood
Project Hail Mary’s co-director, Christopher Miller, chimed in, adding that the boost of Indian films in the US is growing with each passing year, gaining broad cultural relevance. The director admitted that the surge started with SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus RRR, starring Ram Charan and Jr NTR in the lead, alongside Alia Bhatt in a brief role. As per Christopher, RRR took Indian cinema’s viewership in America to new heights, surpassing the South Asian diaspora.
In other news, Project Hail Mary, also featuring Sandra Hüller, James Ortiz and Lionel Boyce in key roles, centres around Ryland Grace, a man who awakens on an interstellar spacecraft with no memory of how he got there. It is based on the 2021 novel by Andy Weir.
