Baahubali, RRR director on Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2: ‘Takes guts to release a film 4 hours long’

Dhurandhar: The Revenge, directed by Aditya Dhar and headlined by Ranveer Singh, seems to be on a winning streak at the box office. Praises have been pouring in not only from fans but also from the industry stalwarts. Joining the bandwagon is none other than ace director SS Rajamouli, credited to epic action dramas like the Baahubali franchise, starring Prabhas and the 2022 magnum opus RRR, featuring Ram Charan and Jr NTR. Now, the 52-year-old has given his verdict on Dhurandhar’s sequel, lauding the cast and crew for their amazing work.

SS Rajamouli has posted a heartfelt note on his X-handle, showering his appreciation on Dhurandhar 2. He revealed that the sequel has successfully surpassed the expectations of the original film, released last year on December 5.

According to SS Rajamouli, everything in Dhurandhar 2, from the script, cast, direction, music, world design and technical execution was flawless. But what stood out the most was the emotional stakes. The director applauded Aditya Dhar for his vision in weaving plot twists infused with tense moments and heavy emotions. Despite the 4-hour runtime, Rajamouli stated that the film’s writing was so strong that the audience was glued to their seats from the first frame to the last.



SS Rajamouli did not hesitate to showcase his admiration for Ranveer Singh’s incredible acting chops. He especially highlighted a particular sequence where Ranveer’s Jaskirat Singh Rangi, aka Hamza Ali Mazari, had a moment with his sister Jasleen Kaur, played by debutant Pari Pandher in a shed, calling it ‘a masterclass in acting’. Rajamouli even admitted to being touched by the ‘heart-wrenching climax’, adding that Ranveer mesmerised him equally as Jaskirat and Hamza.

On a concluding note, SS Rajamouli acknowledged R Madhavan’s layered performance as Ajay Sanyal, the Director of the Intelligence Bureau (IB), in Dhurandhar 2, where he portrayed frustration, helplessness and a staunch determination effortlessly. ‘We felt your success as ours,’ were Rajamouli’s exact words. The director signed off his note by extending his warm congratulations to the entire team of Dhurandhar 2 for ‘the resounding success’.



Dhrandhar 2, the action-packed espionage, premiered on March 19 and has been receiving a thunderous response ever since. Within just 2 days, the film has amassed Rs 268 crore at the ticket window. It has been released in 5 languages: Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. Dhurandhar 2 also stars Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun, Sanjay Dutt, Rakesh Bedi, Gaurav Gera, Manav Gohil and Danish Pandor in key roles.
