Dhurandhar: The Revenge; Can Ranveer Singh’s comeback thriller break top Bollywood opening day records?

Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge is set to create a major buzz when it hits theatres. The film marks the return of Ranveer Singh as Hamza Ali Mazari, an Indian spy operating in Lyari, Karachi, and fans are already eagerly anticipating his comeback. The sequel also boasts a powerful ensemble cast featuring R. Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, Danish Pandor, and others reprising their roles.

The film has generated significant excitement, especially after the first installment, Dhurandhar, achieved massive success and broke several records. Continuing that momentum, Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge is expected to follow the same path and deliver another high-impact cinematic experience.

1. Pushpa 2

At present, the record for the biggest opening day in Hindi is held by Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2: The Rule, which collected ₹72 crore on its first day in the Hindi market. Apart from the opening-day milestone, Pushpa 2: The Rule also holds the record for the highest single-day collection in Hindi, earning ₹86 crore on its fourth day, which coincided with its first Sunday.

2. Jawan
Among Bollywood films, the record is currently held by Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan, which earned around ₹65 crore in Hindi on its opening day and about ₹75 crore across India. For Bollywood releases, Jawan holds the record with more than ₹71 crore in Hindi on its fourth day and over ₹80 crore across India.

3. Animal
Animal, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga and featuring Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role, got off to a phenomenal start at the box office. The film earned an impressive ₹63.80 crore on its opening day.

4. Stree 2
Stree 2, starring Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Aparshakti Khurana, Abhishek Banerjee and Pankaj Tripathi, is estimated to have collected around ₹60.3 crore at the Indian box office on its opening day.

5. Pathaan
Pathaan, which marked the return of Shah Rukh Khan to the big screen after four years, recorded a massive opening by collecting ₹55 crore at the Indian box office on its first day.

6. Gadar 2
Exactly 40 years after Sunny Deol made his acting debut with Betaab, the 65-year-old delivered the biggest hit of his career. Gadar 2, the sequel to his 2001 blockbuster Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, opened strongly in theatres with a ₹40 crore collection on its first day.

7. Chhaava
Chhaava, starring Vicky Kaushal as Sambhaji Maharaj, emerged as the biggest Hindi opener of 2025 following its release on February 14. The film earned ₹31 crore at the domestic box office on its first day.

8. Dhurandhar
Dhurandhar, featuring Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, and Sara Arjun in key roles, earned ₹27 crore net at the Indian box office on its opening day.
