Who is Dhurandhar rapper Reble?
Reble, whose real name is Daiaphi Lamare, hails from the scenic West Jaintia Hills of Meghalaya. She has quickly emerged as one of the promising female rappers in India. Her performances in tracks like Run Down the City – Monica and Naal Nachna from Dhurandhar have been widely appreciated for their confidence and sharp delivery, helping her stand out in a competitive space.Interestingly, music was not always her planned path. In an interview with NDTV, Reble shared that she once aimed for a conventional career. She said, "I thought I was going to work an engineering job after college and I was preparing for my entrance exams," she says. "I was damn sure I was gonna crack it and land the typical job that most people crave." But life, as she puts it, had other plans. "However, life took a turn and offered me something with more flexibility, and that is having a career in music. I like being my own person and not having an authority asking me to do something."
This decision proved to be a turning point. Her shift towards music opened doors to significant projects, including the Dhurandhar soundtrack and promotional work for Lokah Chapter 1. Speaking about these opportunities, she noted that such projects gave her a strong push and held deep personal meaning in her journey.
How her journey started?
Reble’s connection with music goes back to her childhood. She began rapping at just 10 years old, drawing inspiration from global hip-hop icons like Eminem and The Notorious B.I.G.. Initially, she performed under a different name before adopting Reble as her stage identity. She once revealed in an interview with Gulf news that the name change was partly to keep her musical pursuits hidden from her family during her early days.Beyond music, Reble has also spoken about important social issues with NDTV. As an artist from Northeast India, she acknowledged that while she may not have personally faced severe racism, many from her community have. She expressed concern over such incidents and said they affect her deeply. Referring to a recent case involving alleged racial abuse, she shared that it was upsetting and highlighted how many such incidents may have gone unnoticed in the past.
Despite these challenges, Reble remains hopeful. She believes that while prejudice still exists, attitudes are gradually improving, especially among the younger generation. For her, music is not just a career but also a platform to express, connect, and bring about change.
For Dhurandhar 2, Reble and Jasmine Sandals have collaborated for a new high-energy song Mai Aur Tu. They even performed together at the music album launch.
