'Koi franchise nahi chhodta hai yeh': Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar unite in Golmaal 5

Filmmaker Rohit Shetty has officially announced the next instalment of his popular comedy franchise Golmaal on his birthday. The director unveiled the project with a humorous first-look style video. Titled Golmaal 5, the film will see the return of several familiar faces while also introducing a new addition — Akshay Kumar.

On Saturday, Rohit shared a special announcement video confirming that filming for the fifth instalment has begun. Looking back at the journey of the franchise, the director thanked audiences for supporting the films for nearly two decades.

"20 years ago, the first Golmaal was released, a film that changed my life. The credit goes to you, my audience. Over the past 20 years, we have entertained you, and yes, sometimes disappointed you, but we have always been honest in our work. So now, once again, my fabulous team and I are set on a journey to entertain you as we start filming G5. You have always loved and supported me. All we need is your blessings. See you at the movies @tseries.official @rohitshettypicturez," he wrote.


The promo video features the core cast members — Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, Shreyas Talpade, Kunal Kemmu and Tusshar Kapoor — and also marks the return of Sharman Joshi, who appeared in the original film but was absent from later instalments. The excitement builds when Akshay Kumar suddenly appears in the clip, surprising everyone.

Reacting to Akshay’s entry into the franchise, Ajay joked, “Koi bhi franchise nhi chordta.”

In the video, Akshay is seen sporting a bald look, dressed in a black kurta and lungi, paired with dark sunglasses.

The actor also shared his excitement about joining the film on Instagram, writing, "Happy Birthday @itsrohitshetty On your birthday, the madness just got bigger and louder. Excited to be joining this crazy family of Golmaal 5! Let the chaos begin!"

Fans on social media have reacted with excitement as the film goes on floors, with many saying Akshay stole the spotlight in the announcement clip while also looking forward to the reunion of actors such as Ajay, Kunal, Tusshar, Arshad and Shreyas Talpade.
