India sealed the title after overcoming New Zealand in a tense final in Ahmedabad, becoming the first team to win the T20 World Cup in consecutive editions.

The team cemented the historic win with a dominant all-round display in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium, piling up 255/5 in 20 overs before bundling New Zealand out for 159 in 19 overs to secure a massive 96-run victory.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the team soon after the win, describing the triumph as a reflection of “exceptional skills, determination and teamwork”.
President Droupadi Murmu also congratulated the team, saying India had scaled “several peaks of history” with the emphatic victory.
"Heartiest congratulations to Team India which scaled several peaks of history by winning the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup emphatically. India has the proud distinction of being the only country to win the cup three times. It is also the only team to win the cup twice in a row. This brings immense joy and pride to our cricket loving people," she wrote in a post on X.
Corporate leaders also joined the chorus of praise.
Microsoft chief executive Satya Nadella congratulated the side and highlighted the contributions of key players. “Jasprit Bumrah, once again a match winner when it mattered most,” he wrote.
Google CEO Sundar Pichai also took to X to convey his congratulations to Team India.
"Congrats India on winning the ICC Men's T20 World Cup! chose the wrong game to go watch:) what a stadium and atmosphere. Well played to the other semi finalists, SA, Eng and Nz!! Also so exciting to see the game expand to so many countries and congrats to ICC for a great tournament," his tweet read.

Business tycoon Gautam Adani described the triumph in emphatic terms, writing: “Unbelievable. Unstoppable. UNBEATEN Bharat!! Congratulations on the T20 2026 World Cup Championship.”
Mahindra Group chairman Anand Mahindra reflected on the personal journeys behind the victory, pointing to the redemption arcs of two players who played key roles in the campaign. He noted Sanju Samson’s return to prominence after a long period on the sidelines and Abhishek Sharma’s resurgence despite calls for his exclusion, saying their stories underscored the power of giving players a second chance and maintaining faith in talent.
The Election Commission of India also joined the celebrations, congratulating the team for scripting history by winning their third T20 World Cup title and using the moment to encourage citizens to participate in upcoming elections.
Former NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant hailed the triumph as a reflection of what he called the “greatest era of Indian cricket”, praising the team’s spirited all-round performance and also acknowledging New Zealand’s strong run through the tournament as deserving runners-up.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi called the win a “magnificent victory”, saying the team had given the country another unforgettable sporting moment by retaining the trophy at home.
Meanwhile, former India captain Sachin Tendulkar described the achievement as historic, noting that India had become the first side to lift the T20 World Cup twice in a row. Praising the team’s approach and consistency, he said they were “totally deserving and rightful winners of the trophy”.
Virat Kohli also congratulated the squad, calling it a “phenomenal victory” achieved through composure and character under pressure. He praised the entire group, including the management and support staff, for playing their part in the achievement.
"Champions once again. Phenomenal victory for us in the big final at Ahmedabad. Great character shown by the boys under pressure throughout the tournament and absolutely no one could come close to this talented bunch of players. Congratulations to the whole management and the whole support staff group for being part of this amazing feat. Very well deserved. Jai Hind," Kohli wrote.
Several other political leaders and public figures also congratulated the team, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union ministers Piyush Goyal and Ram Mohan Naidu, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and Vedanta chairman Anil Agarwal, as tributes continued to pour in from across the country following India’s historic victory.
