‘Beyond extraordinary’: Yami Gautam spills the beans after watching Dhurandhar 2

During an appearance at the News18 Rising Bharat Summit 2026, actor Yami Gautam, who is married to filmmaker Aditya Dhar, offered rare insight into the much-awaited continuation of the blockbuster saga. Speaking with admiration about her husband’s creative journey, she acknowledged his dedication to mounting ambitious cinematic ventures. She reflected on how he previously delivered impactful projects such as Uri: The Surgical Strike, and most recently steered Dhurandhar to monumental success. According to her, only someone driven by unwavering conviction and creative fire could bring a film of that magnitude to life.

When the conversation turned playful and she was asked whether she had any personal releases lined up for March 19, Yami responded with humor and restraint. She maintained that all official updates about the franchise would come directly from Aditya himself. At the same time, she hinted that she, like countless fans, would be present in a theatre on that significant day, sharing the collective excitement of audiences nationwide.


Recalling her first encounter with the original script, Yami described an intensely emotional experience. At the time, she was filming Article 370 when she read an early draft of Dhurandhar, which then consisted of just forty pages. Even in its preliminary form, the narrative moved her profoundly. She emphasized the immense effort, sincerity, and faith Aditya invested in shaping the film into what eventually became a historic success.

In a surprising revelation, Yami disclosed that she has already watched Dhurandhar 2. The sequel, she suggested, surpasses expectations in every sense. Overwhelmed after viewing it, she found herself lost in contemplation, unable to focus on anything else, even during a scheduled flight.
