Akshay Kumar opens up about awkward college moment that left him beaten
Before he became one of Bollywood’s biggest action stars, Akshay Kumar was just another college boy trying to impress someone he liked. In a recent episode of Wheel of Fortune India, the actor shared a story from nearly four decades ago, and it did not go the way he had planned. The conversation on the show shifted to love and effort after a contestant recited a shayari. A discussion followed on whether men really go the extra mile to win someone’s heart. That is when Akshay decided to speak about his own experience from his college days.

Opening up on national television, Akshay said, “Mujhe yaad hai, main apne time ki baat kar raha hoon. Aaj se kareeban 40 saal pehle main college mein tha, toh main ek ladki ko bahut chahta tha. Maine uske liye gaana seekha aur mera ek dost tha jisko guitar chalana aata tha. Main sacchi mein keh raha hoon, main uske ghar ke bahar jaake gaana gaya aur woh guitar baja raha tha. Maine gaana gaya, uske baad pata hai kya hua?”

He explained that he had genuinely learned a song just to impress the girl. A friend accompanied him with a guitar. They stood outside her house and performed, hoping the gesture would make an impression.

But things turned awkward very quickly.

After building suspense on the show, Akshay revealed, “Uske jitne bhi neighbours the, unhone mujhe peeta. Hum dono ne maar khayi.” The studio audience burst out laughing as he added, “Mehnat zyada hone se bhi pitai hoti hai.”

The actor said it in his usual comic style, but the memory clearly stayed with him. What was meant to be a romantic surprise ended with him and his friend getting beaten up by the girl’s neighbours.

Akshay Kumar upcoming movies

The incident happened long before films, fame and stardom. Today, Akshay Kumar is married to author and former actor Twinkle Khanna. The couple tied the knot in 2001 and are parents to two children, Aarav and Nitara.
