In the clip, taken from Arbaaz Khan’s show The Invincibles, Helen spoke candidly about her early days with Salim Khan and the deep respect she maintained for his first wife, Salma. The veteran actor-dancer revealed that during the beginning of her relationship with Salim in the 1970s, she was extremely conscious about not causing discomfort to Salma.
Why Helen used to hide from Salim Khan's first wife?
Recalling those days, Helen shared "In the beginning, what I used to do, you know when I used to pass Bandstand, and I would know sometimes Mummy (Salma) is standing in the balcony, I would duck right down so she would not see me and think that the car would be empty near your house. I used to keep her respect so much."For the unversed, Helen and Salim first met while working together in films. At the time, Salim was already married and had four children. According to past accounts, Salim supported Helen during a challenging phase in her life when she was struggling financially and professionally. Over time, their bond deepened, and they eventually got married. However, Helen has repeatedly maintained that she never wished for Salim to separate from his family.
In the same interview, she emphasised that she always respected Salma and acknowledged that the 1970s must have been a difficult period for her. Helen also expressed her belief in destiny, suggesting that life unfolds in ways beyond individual control.
During the conversation, Arbaaz also revealed that the family shares a warm relationship today. He mentioned that if Helen does not attend a family lunch or gathering, Salma is often the first to call and ask about her.
Salim Khan's health update
Meanwhile, Salim Khan remains under close medical supervision. As per a statement issued by Dr Jalil Parkar, he was brought to the emergency ward on Tuesday morning and later shifted to the Intensive Care Unit. The hospital has confirmed that he is stable but continues to be monitored by a team of specialists. The exact reason for his hospitalisation has not yet been disclosed, and a press briefing is expected, subject to the family’s consent.Fans continue to pray for veteran screenwriter's speedy recovery.
