Rajpal Yadav cheque bounce case update: Court adjourns Hera Pheri actor’s bail plea to next week, directs other side to respond
Rajpal Yadav's bail plea hearing has been adjourned to Monday, February 16. The Delhi High Court has asked the complainant to respond. The actor surrendered to Tihar Jail on February 5, 2026, to serve a six-month sentence in cheque dishonour cases...

His legal team had informed the court that he had arranged Rs 50 lakh and had requested an additional week to complete the payment. However, the High Court declined the plea, stating there were no valid grounds to extend the surrender deadline.
On Thursday (February 12), Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma began proceedings in Bhool Bhulaiyaa's actor bail plea, noting that he had repeatedly informed the Court that he would clear the dues but had failed to do so. The judge noted that Rajpal Yadav had made at least two dozen comments promising to reimburse the complainant. However, the money was not deposited.
Justice Sharma said, "You have gone to jail because you didn’t honour your own commitment."
The court resumed hearing the matter at 2:30 PM. Rajpal Yadav’s counsel informed the bench that he had attempted to contact his client but was unable to reach him. He further stated that a bail application had been filed and suggested that the court seek a response from the other side.

For those who don't know, the court had earlier shown leniency by suspending Yadav’s sentence in June 2024 to allow both parties to reach a financial settlement. This relief was granted based on repeated assurances that outstanding dues would be cleared. However, the High Court later withdrew that protection, observing that the actor had consistently failed to honour commitments made before the court.Despite multiple timelines and opportunities, payments amounting to several crores remained unpaid, the court said. The court also noted that even partial payments promised through demand drafts and instalments were not deposited on time. Explanations citing technical or clerical errors were rejected as unconvincing.
Calling it a repeated breach of undertakings given in open court, the High Court denied further relief and directed that deposited amounts be released to the complainant company.
After surrendering at Tihar Jail, many Bollywood celebrities, including Salman Khan, Sonu Sood, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Mika Singh, Varun Dhawan, Ajay Devgn and others came out in support of Rajpal Yadav. The actor's wife, Radha Yadav, also expressed gratitude to everyone who stood with them in such a difficult time.
