Rajpal Yadav Case: Before bail hearing, Here’s what 'Hera Pheri' actor’s wife Radha said in an emotional message
Rajpal Yadav surrendered to Tihar Jail in connection with multiple cheque-bounce cases. His wife said the film industry has been supportive during this difficult time. Yadav had borrowed Rs 5 crore in 2010 to finance a film that later failed at th...

Speaking to PTI, she thanked friends and colleagues from the film industry for stepping forward with help and encouragement at a time when the family is facing both legal and emotional strain.
“A big thank you to everyone who is coming out to help,” she said.
Why did Rajpal Yadav surrender?
The actor, known for his comic roles in films such as Phir Hera Pheri, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Hungama, Partner and Chup Chup Ke, surrendered after the Delhi High Court rejected his plea seeking more time to clear outstanding dues. The issue dates back to 2010, when Yadav borrowed Rs 5 crore from Murali Projects Pvt Ltd to finance his directorial debut Ata Pata Laapata. The film failed at the box office, leaving him burdened with debt.
Over time, the amount grew. The court noted that he now has to pay nearly Rs 9 crore. He has been directed to deposit Rs 1.35 crore in each of the seven cheque-bounce cases filed against him.
Film industry rallies behind him
Even as the legal battle continues, several members of the film fraternity have reportedly reached out to support the actor and his family.Actors Sonu Sood, Gurmeet Chaudhary and music composer Rao Inderjit Yadav have offered assistance. Media reports also claim that Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn, Varun Dhawan and filmmaker David Dhawan have contacted the family.
Goldie Jain, Yadav’s manager of 25 years, said help has come from across the industry.
“From actors to directors and producers, people have taken the initiative to help. They have called and promised support. They are all well-wishers of Rajpal bhai,” he said, adding that support may not always be financial.
Sonu Sood’s gesture stands out
Actor Sonu Sood was among the first to step in. Instead of offering charity, he signed Yadav for a film and gave him the signing amount as an advance.“A small signing amount, adjustable against future work, is not charity, it’s dignity. When one of our own is going through a tough phase… this is how we show we are more than just an industry,” Sood said.
He also urged others to come forward.
A tough chapter for a comic favourite
Before surrendering, Yadav had admitted in an interview that he had no money or means left to repay the dues and had remarked that “everyone is on their own” in the industry.Yet, the support now tells a different story.
For an actor who has spent decades making audiences laugh, this is an unusually serious chapter. With his bail hearing scheduled today, the family is hoping for relief, and perhaps a chance to rebuild.
