During the NDA parliamentary party meeting, MPs described the recent trade deals and tariff reductions as major achievements of the government. "There is excitement among MPs that these trade deals have been concluded under the leadership of the PM. The trade deals have been signed with a total of 39 countries... All these 39 countries are developed countries...," Union minister Kiren Rijiju told media persons after the meeting.
During the meeting, BJP formally introduced newly elected party president Nitin Nabin to all NDA MPs. Nabin was felicitated by senior leaders.
However, Modi chose the occasion to speak to NDA MPs about parliamentary discipline. As per sources, Modi said MPs must play an active role inside the Parliament as he expressed his displeasure over the absence of MPs despite quorum bells.
Talking about the budget, the PM said MPs should explain to people in their constituencies about the vision of the budget and the country's roadmap for the next 25 years. Modi said several smaller parties are joining NDA and that reflects growing strength of the alliance and a confidence of people in the government.
Rijiju also slammed Rahul Gandhi over his China remarks and accused him of disrupting House proceedings, saying it was against Parliament decorum. Rijiju said that it is the Opposition's political strategy to score points like this in the House.
