Border 2 is proving to be one of the biggest theatrical successes of early 2026, with the war drama showing remarkable strength at the box office even after its extended opening weekend. Headlined by Sunny Deol and Varun Dhawan, the film has benefited greatly from its Republic Day release window. Now, it is all set to cross Rs 250 crore mark in India.

Border 2 box office collection day-wise

The film hit cinemas on January 23 and opened to encouraging numbers. While advance bookings were healthy, it was the strong walk-ins over the first few days that helped the film build momentum. By Day 6, Border 2 had officially crossed the Rs 200 crore mark in India. The film collected around Rs 13 crore on Wednesday, taking its total India net collection to approximately Rs 213 crore.

With this, the film has also overtaken the debut weekend collections of Hrithik Roshan’s War 2, positioning itself ahead of one of the most anticipated action releases in recent times. Trade experts believe this achievement highlights the film’s strong hold over audiences during the extended opening period.

The film opened on a solid note, earning Rs 30 crore on its first day. Collections saw a healthy jump on Saturday, with Day 2 numbers touching nearly Rs 36.5 crore, indicating favourable word of mouth. Audiences responded positively to the film’s large-scale action sequences and emotional undertones, helping it build steady traction over the weekend.

Box office records broken so far

The film beats Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar in opening-day collection. Sunday and Republic Day turned out to be decisive for Border 2. According to Sacnilk, the film collected around Rs 54.5 crore on Sunday, followed by an even stronger Rs 59 crore on Monday due to the national holiday. These back-to-back Rs 50 crore-plus days marked the film’s highest single-day earnings so far and played a crucial role in pushing its overall total into blockbuster territory.

As expected, collections witnessed a decline once the holiday period ended. On Tuesday (Day 5), the film earned around Rs 20 crore, a noticeable dip but still a respectable figure for a weekday. Despite the slowdown, Border 2 remained steady enough to cross the double-century milestone within six days of its release.

In terms of records, the makers stated that Border 2 amassed Rs 193.48 crore during its extended opening weekend in India. This feat makes it the first Hindi film of 2026 to cross the Rs 100 crore mark in such a short span. The film has also outperformed several recent Republic Day releases and military-themed films, including Fighter and Sky Force, at the same stage.

With a strong patriotic appeal, star power, and favourable release timing, Border 2 has clearly struck a chord with audiences, and its box office journey is far from over.
