As per the instructions of the chief minister Yogi Adityanath, the scheme is being completely digitized, which will increase transparency along with ease in the implementation of the scheme. According to a press release, issued by the UP’s information department, the scheme not only becomes a support for the farmer's family in case of an accident, but also provides stability to the rural economy of the state.
Under the Chief Minister's Farmer Accident Welfare Scheme, financial assistance of up to ₹5 lakh is provided to farmer families in case of accidental death or disability.
The release said that the Revenue Department distributed ₹873.58 crore under the scheme, providing financial assistance to 18,145 farmers and their families in the state in the financial year 2025-26.
“Under the Chief Minister's guidance, the scope of the scheme was expanded in 2023-24 to include landless farmers and agricultural laborers. In 2023-24, ₹944.72 crore was distributed under the scheme, helping 23,821 farmers. Since the scheme's inception in 2019, 108,098 farmers and their families have received financial assistance, proving to be a social security shield for these families,” the release further mentioned.
The Board of Revenue, UP, is fully digitizing the scheme to ensure smooth and transparent implementation. The release further mentioned that a modern web portal and software are being developed with the assistance of the National Informatics Institute (NIC), which will be completed by February 2026.
With the scheme becoming fully online, farmers will no longer have to repeatedly visit tehsil or district offices, eliminating the chances for corruption. This portal will facilitate everything from the application process to direct transfer of funds to beneficiaries' bank accounts, the release added.
For transparency and effective monitoring, the portal is also being integrated with a dashboard. The scheme is strongly advancing the Yogi government's farmer-friendly approach by providing financial support to the state's farmers during difficult times, the release said.
