Barron Trump saves friend from violent attack in UK by ex-boyfriend, calls authorities from across the Atlantic

A frantic FaceTime call crossing the Atlantic became a lifeline. From the United States, Barron Trump, son of US President Donald Trump, dialed police after hearing a friend scream and cry as she was being beaten by her former boyfriend, a decision a UK court later heard may have saved her life.

According to the New York Post website, Metro UK reports that she called Trump while being assaulted by her ex-boyfriend, Matvei Rumianstev, 22, who allegedly attacked her out of jealousy over her friendship with the president’s son.

Trump, 19, who was in the United States at the time, immediately contacted emergency services, telling operators, “I just got a call from a girl I know. She’s getting beaten up.”


After providing her address, he urged police to respond immediately. “It’s really an emergency, please. I got a call from her with a guy beating her up.”

At Rumianstev’s trial, the woman told jurors at at Snaresbrook Crown Court that Trump “saved my life,” while bodycam footage showed police saying the emergency call came from someone in the US.

She told police she was friends with Barron Trump and was asked to call him back, asking on camera, “Did you call the police?”

He replied, “I had someone call the police,” telling officers, “she called me. I picked up the phone expecting a nice hello or something. I called you guys; that was the best thing I could do. I wasn’t going to call back and threaten things to him because that would just make the situation worse.”

According to NewYork post website, President Trump has credited Barron with helping him win a second term by connecting the campaign with Generation Z voters in the 2024 election. Barron Trump is a sophomore at NYU’s Washington, DC, campus.

Barron guided the campaign’s podcast strategy, with Trump appearing on 20 major shows compared with just eight by Kamala Harris.
