Rajya Sabha member and well-known writer Sudha Murty on Wednesday appealed to her friends, and members of public not to fall prey to fake videos featuring her offering investment advice.

“I wish to stress that neither me nor my husband NR Narayana Murthy, or for that matter, any of my family members, offer investment advice to people. I am pained that sections of people tend to believe them without ever trying to cross-check the genuineness of the video,” the former chairperson of Infosys Foundation told ET.

The Rajya Sabha member said she has already alerted the cybercrime police and registered a formal complaint as well.

In a post on X, Murty said, “I want to alert you to fake videos circulating online that falsely use my image and voice to promote financial schemes and investments. These are deepfakes created without my knowledge or consent. Please do not make any financial decisions based on these fraudulent videos.

"I urge you to verify information through official channels and report any such content you encounter. Stay vigilant and stay safe.,” she added.
