An inter-ministerial group of cabinet ministers deliberated on recovering critical minerals from e-waste, Monday. In a post on X, Union Minister of Power, Housing and Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal said discussions centered on convergence for recovery of critical minerals from e-waste, Extended Producer Responsibility, and strengthening the role of Urban Local Bodies in plastic waste management.

The meeting was attended by Road Transport and Highways Minister, Nitin Gadkari, Coal and Mines Minister, G Kishan Reddy, and Environment Minister, Bhupendra Yadav.

“We also reviewed the handling of electronic waste in cities and the reuse of inert material from legacy dumpsites for National Highway projects,” Manohar Lal said adding deliberations reinforced a coordinated, resource-efficient approach to waste management and circular economy outcomes.
