Rijiju said the Budget Session will run till 2 April 2026 and will be held in two phases with the first part will conclude on February 13, and Parliament will meet again from March 9, with the President set to address a joint sitting of both Houses on the opening day of the session.
He said the schedule marks the start of the annual financial exercise and added that the session will facilitate discussion and debate on key economic proposals.
The Union Budget is likely scheduled to be presented on February 1, sources told ET earlier this week.
For the past several years, the budget has been presented on February 1, a practice introduced in 2017.
This session will also see debates on the Economic Survey, which reviews economic performance over the past year and sets the context for the Budget. It is likely scheduled for January 29.
