Vicky Kaushal reveals the unexpected fear he has developed after son Vihaan's birth. 'Never bothered about it earlier'

Bollywood actor Vicky Kaushal has spoken candidly about how life has changed after becoming a father, revealing an unexpected fear he never had before. The actor, who welcomed his first child with wife Katrina Kaif in November 2025, said that parenthood has shifted his priorities in ways he could not have imagined earlier.

In a recent conversation with Just Too Filmy, Vicky reflected on his emotional journey since the birth of his son, Vihaan, describing fatherhood as deeply transformative and grounding.

Vicky shared that he is still learning what it truly means to be a father. According to him, the emotions that come with parenthood are intense and layered, making them difficult to put into words. He explained that the experience brings a mix of joy, restlessness, responsibility, and self-reflection. At times, he becomes more conscious of his actions, feeling the need to lead by example, while at other moments he believes he is doing just fine as he is.


The actor said that fatherhood has made him realise how quickly time becomes invaluable. His focus, he noted, has shifted completely, with his child becoming the emotional centre of his world. No matter where he is or what he is doing, there is always a pull that brings him back to thoughts of his son.

The fear he never had before

One of the most relatable revelations from Vicky’s interaction was his new-found fear of losing his phone. He admitted that this was never a concern for him earlier, but it has now become a constant worry. The reason, he explained, is simple — his phone is filled with countless photos and videos of his baby.

Every captured moment, from small expressions to everyday gestures, has become priceless for him. The actor said that the idea of losing those memories unsettles him, as they hold emotional value far beyond the device itself. Spending time with his child, he added, is something he craves deeply, calling it the most precious part of his life right now.

Introducing Vihaan Kaushal

Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif welcomed their son on November 7, 2025. After keeping his name private for nearly two months, the couple introduced him to the world on January 7 through a joint Instagram post. The black-and-white picture showed the couple gently holding their baby’s tiny finger, without revealing his face.

Alongside the photo, they shared a message expressing gratitude and describing their son as their “ray of light,” noting how life changed instantly after his arrival. The post was met with an outpouring of love from fans and members of the film industry.

Several fans also noticed a connection between the name Vihaan and Vicky’s character Major Vihaan Shergill from Uri: The Surgical Strike, a coincidence that added emotional resonance for many.

On the professional front, Vicky was recently praised for his portrayal of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Chhaava. He is currently working on Love & War, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, which also stars Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. The film is under production and is slated for a theatrical release in 2026.
