New Delhi: Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the review meeting of National Highway projects held under the chairmanship of union minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on Monday.

CM Dhami, at the meeting, raised different matters of the state related to the National Highway, including the proposals related to the construction of Rishikesh Bypass, Almora-Danya-Panar-Ghat Road, Jeolikot-Khairna-Gairsain-Karnaprayag Road and Almora-Bageshwar-Kanda-Udiari Band Road, and requested for approval of the proposals of the state.

During the discussion on the state's proposed road projects, it was said that the Rishikesh Bypass Project, a 12.67-km long four-lane bypass from Teenpani to Kharasrot via Yoganagari on National Highway 7, is proposed. The estimated cost is ₹1,161.27 crore.


This project includes a 4.876-km elevated road for three elephant corridors, a 200-meter bridge over the Chandrabhaga river, and a 76-meter ROB at the railway portal. Besides, a 76-meter ROB has been proposed at the Shyampur railway crossing at a cost of ₹318 crore, allowing uninterrupted traffic flow from Nepali Farm to Rishikesh Nataraja Chowk. The Almora-Danya-Panar-Ghat Road, a 76-km stretch of National Highway 309B, is proposed to be widened to two lanes at an estimated cost of ₹988 crore.

CM Dhami said that significant progress has been made in developing road infrastructure in Uttarakhand. Uttarakhand's roads are empowering not only pilgrimage and tourism, but also industry, border security, disaster management, and the local economy.

“Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the sustained efforts of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Uttarakhand is rapidly progressing on the path of development with a smooth, safe, modern, and forward-looking road network,” the release said.

To facilitate, access, and ensure safe pilgrimages to the Chardham Yatra, the Chardham Highway Project, costing ₹12,769 crore, has been approved. Uttarakhand has a 3,723-kilometer national highway network, connecting the state to various parts of the country.

Under the Delhi-Dehradun Corridor, a six-lane access-controlled highway, approximately 30 km long, has been developed in the Ganeshpur-Dehradun section, including a tunnel and an 18 km long elevated section. Over ₹1,995 crore has been invested in this project.
