Kolkata: In a scathing attack on Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Trinamool National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee criticized Union Home Minister Amit Shah on his infiltration comments and questioned why terror attacks happened in Jammu & Kashmir and New Delhi and sought Shah’s resignation.

“Infiltrators reached the national capital and there was an explosion there. Is Mamata Banerjee responsible for that? In Jammu and Kashmir, four terrorists entered and killed 26 people in broad daylight. From Delhi to Jammu and Kashmir, everything comes under the Home Ministry. Who is in charge of the Jammu and Kashmir Police? Who controls the borders? “ Banerjee questioned.

He said that Shah is the most incompetent Home Minister since Independence. “If there were infiltrators in India, your party has been in power for 11 years and you have been the Home Minister for six years. Then you should be the first one to resign,” Banerjee said, while speaking at the Kolkata airport.

Banerjee also attacked Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma and said that people who speak in Bangla should be jailed. “What steps have you taken against him? You don’t know Bengal’s history. Today you called Rabindranath Tagore “Rabindranath Sanyal.” You don’t even know Tagore’s birthplace. You question Maa Durga’s identity, break the statue of Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar, call Swami Vivekananda a product of the Left, and by sitting beside leaders who made such statements, Amit Shah claims he will make “Sonar Bangla”,” Banerjee said.

Talking about people’s harassment over SIR, Banerjee said “starting from migrant workers to elderly people, everyone is being harassed due to SIR. “Today one person has died in Ramnagar and another death occurred in Purulia’s Ranibandh yesterday. How many BJP leaders have stood by them?”

Abhishek also questioned whether the Election Commission could publish the list and prove how many of them were Rohingyas or Bangladeshis.

“Amit Shah did not say a single word about Rohingyas or Bangladeshis,” he added.
