For fans of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, nostalgia just hit a new high. Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol marked the film’s 30-year milestone in the most heartwarming way possible by unveiling a bronze statue of Raj and Simran at London’s Leicester Square. The moment instantly turned into a global celebration as the beloved onscreen pair honoured the film that shaped a generation’s idea of love.

Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol shared the update with a playful nod to the film’s legacy and their unforgettable chemistry. They expressed their excitement while announcing the statue, celebrating DDLJ as the first Indian film to join the Scenes in the Square trail. They also thanked the UK for embracing the movie with such affection and invited fans to visit Raj and Simran whenever they are in London.

The sculpture features the duo in their iconic dancing pose from Mehndi Laga Ke Rakhna, placing them alongside legendary characters such as Harry Potter, Bridget Jones, Mary Poppins, and Batman. It’s a rare honour and a reminder of how deeply the film continues to resonate worldwide.

At the launch, Shah Rukh Khan spoke about the emotions tied to this milestone. He said DDLJ was created with sincerity and a simple hope to tell a story about love bridging divides. For him, the film has become a part of who he is, and seeing it etched into Leicester Square’s history felt both surreal and touching. He acknowledged the people of the UK, the Heart of London Business Alliance, director Aditya Chopra, the cast and crew, and Yash Raj Films for bringing this dream to life.

Kajol shared similar sentiments, calling the moment a beautiful return to memories that still feel vivid even three decades later. For her, watching the statue find a home in Leicester Square — a place tied so closely to the film’s journey — made the honour even more meaningful. She reflected on how the movie continues to connect with audiences across ages and borders.
