Chandrachur Singh recently was spotted in Aligarh in connection with a land dispute.
As per reports, Actor Chandrachur Singh is currently in Aligarh amid a dispute over his ancestral haveli and other properties. He has alleged that his own family members are attempting to illegally take possession of the ancestral assets. Chandrachur, accompanied by his mother, visited the District Magistrate’s office, where he met DM Sanjeev Ranjan and submitted detailed information regarding the property dispute, seeking official intervention.
Chandrachur Singh's Rise
Chandrachur Singh emerged as a notable figure in Bollywood during the 1990s. He shared the screen with prominent actors like Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai, and Tabu. For several years, he was considered a rising star with the potential for superstardom.He hails from a distinguished family background. His father, Baldev Singh, was an MLA from Khair in Uttar Pradesh. His mother, Krishna Kumari Devi, is the daughter of the Maharaja of Bolangir in Odisha.
He received his education at The Doon School in Dehradun. Later, he attended St. Stephen’s College in Delhi. Initially, he had aspirations of a career in civil services. He even began preparing for the UPSC examinations.
However, his path led him to acting. He made his acting debut in 1996. His first film was 'Tere Mere Sapne,' a romantic drama. This film was produced by Amitabh Bachchan’s ABCL banner.
In the same year, he received widespread praise for his performance in 'Maachis.' He played a conflicted militant in this film, starring opposite Tabu. The film was directed by Gulzar. His role in 'Maachis' showcased his acting range and earned him critical acclaim.
Why Chandrachur Singh left Bollywood?
Just as his career was gaining significant momentum, Chandrachur Singh suffered a serious injury. The accident occurred while he was skiing in Goa. This injury made it challenging for him to maintain long shooting schedules. It also hindered his ability to train regularly.In an interview with Mid-Day in 2020, the actor discussed this difficult phase of his life.
“I went through a phase of disillusionment, but a sense of surrender came along soon after. When you’re inducted into the industry with a film like 'Maachis,' your expectations are higher. But I could showcase my abilities based only on the offers that came my way. I am happy with the little work I have done. I didn’t want to sell myself short,” he shared.
Years later, Chandrachur Singh made a notable comeback. This return was on OTT platforms. He starred in Ram Madhvani’s crime thriller 'Aarya.' In this series, he played opposite Sushmita Sen.
Following 'Aarya,' he appeared in the psychological drama 'Cuttputlli.' This film, released in 2022, featured Akshay Kumar.
Today, Chandrachur Singh leads his life on his own terms. He is a devoted single father. He is quietly proud of the legacy he has built. He also acknowledges the resilience that has sustained him.
