While raising questions on SIR, Akhilesh Yadav fills the form publicly

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav is carefully navigating the political landscape following a Bihar defeat. He is vocal against Uttar Pradesh's ongoing SIR exercise, urging party workers to ensure all genuine voters are included. Yadav himself ...

Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav is treading cautiously after the MGB's defeat in Bihar, mindful of the 2027 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections. He has been sharply criticising the SIR exercise underway in UP, even as he urges SP workers to participate actively to ensure no genuine voter is left out.

On Thursday, Yadav filled out his own SIR form and posted the photo on X, appealing to people to do the same. He said anyone facing difficulties should contact the party's 'PDA Prahari' teams, which are assisting citizens with the process. Yadav also met families of BLOs who recently died, and on Saturday handed over a cheque of ₹2 lakh to the family of one such BLO at a press conference in Lucknow.

Questioning the Election Commission's urgency in conducting the SIR when elections are still two years away, Yadav accused the poll body of working in favour of the BJP. While tensions persist within the INDIA bloc in Bihar, he said the alliance would remain united in UP.
