Meanwhile, a section of the Trinamool-backed block-level officers (BLOs) and teachers continued their protest in front of the West Bengal-Chief Electoral Officer’s office, for more than 30 hours, seeking fulfilment of several of their demands, including tackling allegations about “tremendous pressure”.
A 13-member team, including four BLOs and government employees, had gone to submit a deputation to CEO Manoj Agarwal at his office on Monday afternoon. They have been sitting in front of the office since Monday.
The BLOs have constructed a protest dais outside the main entrance of the CEO’s office, under the Adhikar Raksha Manch and are still protesting outside the office. The entire building and all the floors of the CEO’s office have been cordoned off by police.
Around 99.77% of the enumeration forms have been distributed by the BLOs to eligible electors. As of 3 pm on Tuesday, 70.14% (5.37 crore) of the enumeration forms have been digitised so far. Meanwhile, 1.35% enumeration forms have been identified by BLOs as “uncollectible”.
