Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor tied the knot in an intimate ceremony on April 14, 2022, surrounded by close family and friends. The wedding was one of Bollywood's most talked-about events, with the entire Kapoor Khandaan showing up to celebrate the duo's big day. However, a few members from Alia’s side of the family were not there, including her uncle, filmmaker Mukesh Bhatt. Recently, he opened up about not being part of the celebrations and revealed that he hasn’t met his niece or her family in years.

Mukesh Bhatt reveals Alia Bhatt didn't invite him for wedding

During a candid conversation with a media portal, Mukesh shared with honesty about the distance that has grown between him and Alia. The veteran producer revealed he was hurt when he wasn’t invited to the wedding. “I’d be lying if I said it didn’t bother me,” he told Lehren Retro by adding that he had always seen Alia as his own child. He explained that when Alia got married, he truly wanted to be there to bless her and share the moment of joy.



Mukesh fondly recalled his connection with Alia, her sister Shaheen Bhatt, and their mother Soni Razdan. He said that he had always shared a warm relationship with them and deeply cared for their happiness. The filmmaker also expressed sadness over not meeting Alia and Ranbir’s daughter, Raha Kapoor, yet. “When I heard Alia was expecting, I was filled with joy. And when I found out she had a baby, I just wanted to see her once,” he said, admitting that his eyes “long to see her little one.”

For the unversed, on November 6, 2022, they became proud parents of a little munchkin - Raha. Alia Bhatt often shares glimpses of her daughter on social media and it's too cute for words.

However, despite his affection, Mukesh Bhatt seems hesitant to bridge the distance. While he didn’t directly blame anyone, he hinted that personal misunderstandings and family differences may have caused the emotional gap. The Bhatt family, known for its creative collaborations in the past, has faced internal friction in recent years.

What happened between Mukesh and Mahesh Bhatt?

Mukesh’s relationship with his elder brother Mahesh Bhatt has also been strained. Once the driving duo behind their successful banner Vishesh Films, the brothers went their separate ways following creative and personal disagreements.


Mukesh now runs the production house independently, continuing its legacy with a series of projects. Under his leadership, Vishesh Films has produced several titles like Raaz, Murder, and Gangster, which made their reputation in Bollywood.

The tension between the brothers is no secret. Filmmaker Vikram Bhatt, who was once close to Mahesh, had earlier suggested that the fallout stemmed from feelings of betrayal and resentment. While Mukesh did not delve into these claims, his latest remarks suggest that the rift may have extended beyond the professional realm into personal family relationships as well.
