Lucknow: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday questioned the government over the recent blast in Delhi, alleging intelligence failure and demanding accountability from concerned departments.

Speaking to reporters here, Yadav said, "We heard the statement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Bhutan, where he assured that action will be taken against the accused. But the question remains, why are intelligence failures happening repeatedly? Who is responsible for such lapses?"

He said that the government should either take strict action against officials responsible for the failures or strengthen the intelligence system to prevent such incidents in the future.

Commenting on the recent exit polls for the Bihar Assembly elections, Yadav alleged that they were being conducted with the intention of discouraging opposition workers.

"Exit polls are being done to demoralise us as per an agenda. We have urged our workers to stay alert," he said.

As per a press statement, addressing the state executive meeting of the Samajwadi Party at the party headquarters here, Yadav said the party has launched the 'PDA Prahari' initiative to ensure that every eligible voter's name is included in the voter list and that no vote is unfairly deleted.

"The purpose of PDA Prahari is to make sure that every person's vote is registered. The party has resolved not to be afraid of SIR and to stand firm. The more responsibly our workers act, the more people's names we will be able to include in the list," he said.

Yadav alleged that the BJP government is deliberately creating confusion to distract people and opposition parties from questioning its failures.

"The BJP wants the opposition and the public to remain entangled in voter lists and SIR issues so that people don't raise questions about governance lapses," he said.

He accused government officials of working to secure votes for the BJP while troubling opposition supporters.

"To expose these conspiracies and ensure everyone's vote is registered, we have appointed PDA Praharis who will provide updates from time to time. We will also approach the Election Commission and demand strict action against officials not cooperating with political parties," he said.

Calling the BJP a "dishonest and negative" party, Yadav alleged the ruling party had manipulated the 2022 Assembly elections and prevented many voters from exercising their franchise.

"The roots of this dishonesty lie within the Election Commission, which is dangerous for democracy," he said.

Reiterating that the Samajwadi Party's goal is to remove the BJP from power in Uttar Pradesh, he said the party stands for positive politics, social justice, and the upliftment of all sections of society.

Yadav said the public has shown confidence in the Samajwadi Party, as reflected in the results of the Lok Sabha elections, and expressed optimism about forming the government in the state in 2027.

"People want freedom from the BJP's misrule. When the Samajwadi Party returns to power, we will establish the rule of social justice, uphold the Constitution and law, and take Uttar Pradesh on the path of development with jobs for youth," he added.

Senior SP leaders, including Shivpal Singh Yadav, Naresh Uttam Patel, Neeraj Maurya, Devesh Shakya, Ram Govind Chaudhary, and Rajendra Chaudhary, were present at the meeting. PTI
