Lull after storm: Biocon founder Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw meets Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah & Dy CM, exchange Diwali greetings

Biocon founder Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw on Tuesday met Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM DK Shivakumar and exchanged Diwali greetings after a weeklong war of words with the top government ministers over the poor condition of Bengaluru’s roads and handling of the city's waste.

“We had an engaging discussion on Bengaluru’s growth, innovation, and the path ahead for Karnataka’s growth story,” Shivakumar posted on X after meeting Shaw at his Sadashivanagar residence in Bengaluru.

On Saturday, the Dy CM had sounded receptive to an offer by the Biocon founder to fund development of 10-15 roads in Bengaluru. He had said Shaw had not discussed the idea with him but the government would cooperate with her in developing the roads of her choice in Bengaluru.


Shivakumar had also said he, along with IT/BT Minister Priyank Kharge, would soon meet with technology companies and hear out their grievances related to urban governance.

Last week, senior ministers including Shivakumar had targeted the Biocon founder after she demanded pothole-free roads and proper removal of garbage from the city’s streets.
