Actor who has worked with Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar reveals his career struggles: ‘All I have is to say one line, yet…’
Veteran character artist Paresh Ganatra, despite a long career alongside Bollywood stars, still faces the necessity of auditions, particularly for commercials. He finds it demeaning to audition for brief ad roles when sharing the screen with icons...

Still Proving His Worth
In a conversation with Pinkvilla, Ganatra admitted that even after decades in the business, he still has to audition for roles, especially for advertisements. He clarified that while he views auditions as a healthy exercise that keeps him sharp, his concern lies with the people conducting them.
Ganatra emphasized that his real frustration lies with having to audition for commercials. For an artist with a strong body of work, being tested for a 30-second advertisement feels unnecessary. He pointed out the irony of being asked to audition for minor roles in ads that also feature icons like Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, or Amitabh Bachchan. As a professional, he finds it unreasonable to doubt his ability to deliver a single line convincingly. For him, the issue is not about pride—it’s about the value of experience being recognized.
“Even though I have no problem auditioning, I am against auditioning for an ad film. You’re making a 30-second ad with someone like Virat Kohli or Mahendra Singh Dhoni or Amitabh Bachchan. I am a character artiste, and all I have to do is say one line. Do you really think that I won’t be able to say that single dialogue? If you doubt my capability to do something so small and simple, then I have a problem auditioning,” he explained.
