Young captain Shubman Gill is set to begin his tenure as India’s ODI skipper in the much-anticipated three-match series against Australia, starting in Perth on Sunday, October 19. Gill, who succeeds Rohit Sharma as India’s new ODI captain, enters the series on a high after leading the Test side to a 2-0 home victory over the West Indies.

Meanwhile, veterans Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have both returned to India’s 15-man squad for the tour - their first appearance since clinching the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Dubai earlier this year.



Newly appointed vice-captain Shreyas Iyer will serve as Gill’s deputy for the series. In the absence of Jasprit Bumrah, India’s pace attack will be led by Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna, with Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana providing additional options. Kuldeep Yadav remains the sole wrist-spinner in the squad.

For Australia, Mitchell Marsh will lead the side. However, the hosts suffered a setback with Cameron Green ruled out due to side soreness sustained during training. Marnus Labuschagne has been drafted in as his replacement.

The ODI series will open in Perth on October 19, followed by the second match in Adelaide on October 23, and the final clash at the iconic Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on October 25.
