India’s billionaires continued to make headlines in 2024-25, not just for their wealth but for lavish purchases, high-profile events, and philanthropy.

From private jets to historic London homes, the rich and powerful have been splurging in style, M3M Hurun India Rich List showed Wednesday.

Here are some interesting facts gathered in the report

Mukesh Ambani & family added a new Boeing Business Jet to their private aviation fleet in late 2024, reinforcing their position among the country’s most high-flying tycoons.


Meanwhile, Gautam Adani & family celebrated his son Jeet’s wedding in February 2025 with a grand ceremony in Ahmedabad, coupled with an Rs 10,000 crore charitable pledge.

Pharmaceutical billionaire Cyrus S. Poonawalla & family acquired a historic £42 million residence in London’s Grosvenor Square in November 2024, highlighting India’s growing footprint in international luxury real estate.

Tragically, Sunjay Kapur passed away during a polo match in June 2025 after accidentally swallowing a bee, leading to a fatal allergic reaction, sparking a major succession tussle at Sona Comstar.

Roshni Nadar Malhotra & family received a 47% stake in HCL’s holding companies as a gift from her father Shiv Nadar in March 2025, marking one of the largest intra-family wealth transfers in India’s tech sector.

Luxury purchases weren’t the only story. Dilip Shanghvi & family invested in two ultra-luxury sea-view apartments in Worli worth around INR 130 crore, while Jitendra Virwani reportedly bought an INR 200 crore Gulfstream G280 private jet, performing a traditional puja to bless the aircraft.

Niraj Bajaj contributed INR 352 crore to education and healthcare, and Kumar Mangalam Birla donated Rs 334 crore for healthcare and infrastructure initiatives.
