SP leader Azam Khan out on bail after two years, party welcomes him amid BSP buzz
Azam Khan, a senior Samajwadi Party leader, was released from Sitapur jail on Tuesday after almost two years. Supporters and family greeted him upon his release. Khan stated he would focus on his health. Akhilesh Yadav expressed relief and praised...
"I have never harmed anyone, not even my enemies. Now, I will focus on my health and get medical treatment," Khan said.
On speculation of him joining BSP, Khan said he cannot say anything at the moment and that he has not talked to anyone since he was not allowed to in jail.
"The release of the Azam Khan ji is a matter of relief and joy not only for him and his family and all of us, but also for all those people who have faith in justice. Heartfelt thanks to the court for upholding faith in justice," SP chief Akhilesh Yadav posted on X.
He said Khan will once again stand with every neglected, suffering, humiliated person, and raise his voice against oppression of the public being carried out by the BJP. Yadav recalled Khan's contribution in building the party along with his father Mulayam Singh Yadav. Yadav said all the cases against Azam Khan will be withdrawn once the SP government comes to power.
Shivpal Yadav, a senior SP leader, also welcomed Khan's release and said he was falsely implicated in these cases. Yadav clarified that the news of Khan joining BSP is mere speculation.
UP deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya said Khan's release will not affect the 2027 assembly elections.
