Kamala Harris blasts Joe Biden in her new book
Kamala Harris memoir: In a candid and revealing excerpt from her forthcoming memoir '107 Days', former vice president Kamala Harris openly criticizes former US president Joe Biden’s decision to run for reelection in 2024 without broader discussion within the administration, calling it “recklessness,” as per a report.

Kamala Harris Criticizes Joe Biden's 2024 Reelection Decision as “Reckless”

Harris, who served as Biden’s vice president, writes that the decision to let Biden and his wife Jill decide on their own was a mistake. She wrote in the first excerpt of '107 Days' that, “‘It’s Joe and Jill’s decision.’ We all said that, like a mantra, as if we’d all been hypnotized,” adding, “The stakes were simply too high. This wasn’t a choice that should have been left to an individual’s ego, an individual’s ambition. It should have been more than a personal decision,” as quoted by CNN.

Kamala Harris Claims Biden’s Team Blocked Her Success

The ex-vice president also shares frustration with Biden’s team, saying they were so focused on not helping her that it ultimately came at Biden's and the country’s expense, according to the report. When polls showed her gaining popularity, those around Biden reportedly didn’t like the contrast. She pointed out that, “None of them grasped that if I did well, he did well,” adding, “My success was important for him," as quoted by CNN.

Loyalty to Biden Hurt Harris' Campaign

Despite her loyalty, Harris admits it became a burden, especially during moments like the October 2024 appearance on 'The View', when asked what she would have done differently from Biden. She responded, “There is not a thing that comes to mind,” a comment she says “haunted” her as it was used against her in the final stretch of Donald Trump’s campaign, according to the report.

Harris Addresses Concerns Over Biden’s Age

Harris also addresses Biden’s age, saying that while he got tired, she doesn’t believe that it was incapacity. She points to a tough debate performance following a grueling travel schedule but emphasizes Biden remained “more deeply knowledgeable, more capable of exercising judgment, and far more compassionate than Donald Trump on his best,” as quoted by CNN.

Kamala Harris Felt Abandoned By White House Communications Team

The memoir paints a picture of a difficult relationship with Biden’s staff, who Harris accuses of undercutting her and failing to defend her. She cites her role on migration issues as an example, where the White House communications team did not help her counter Republican attacks and instead left her to shouldered the blame for the porous border, an issue that had proved intractable for Democratic and Republican administrations alike," as quoted by CNN.

Kamala Harris Felt Overlooked in Joe Biden’s Final Oval Office Speech

Even during Biden’s final Oval Office address on his exit from the race, she was feeling sidelined as she wrote that, “It was almost nine minutes into the 11-minute address, before he mentioned me,” as quoted in the report.

Harris’s memoir, set to be released in two weeks, offers a candid look at her 2024 presidential run, the challenges she faced within the administration, and her evolving view of Joe Biden’s leadership, as per the CNN report.
