Govt introduces Jan Vishwas, IIM amendment bills amid Opposition protests in Parliament

New Delhi: The government on Monday introduced two bills - Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill, 2025, and The Institutes of Management (Amendment) Bill, 2025 - even as the Opposition's continuing protest against the special intensive revision (SIR) issue hit the rest of the work of the House, forcing three adjournments.

Amid the din of the Opposition protest, Union minister of commerce and industry Piyush Goyal introduced the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill, 2025, and then referred it to a select committee.

The proposed legislation seeks to amend "certain enactments for decriminalising and rationalising offences to further enhance trust-based governance for ease of living and doing business."


Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan introduced The Institutes of Management (Amendment) Bill, 2025, which aims to include the Indian Institute of Management, Guwahati, to the schedule of the Indian Institutes of Management Act to make it an institution of national importance.
