Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan
Amitabh Bachchan, who has returned to host the 17th season of Kaun Banega Crorepati on Sony Entertainment Television, recently shared a personal story that struck a chord with viewers. While interacting with a contestant on the show, the veteran actor revisited the memory of taking his parents to a fine-dining restaurant for the very first time — an experience filled with pride, excitement, and a touch of nervousness.

During an episode, contestant Vijay spoke about making his parents proud by treating them to a special dinner where he encouraged them to order without worrying about prices. This prompted Bachchan to recall a similar moment from his early years after college, when he had just started earning.

The Moti Mahal Experience

Bachchan revealed that the restaurant in question was Delhi’s iconic Moti Mahal. He had decided to take his parents there as a gesture of appreciation once he had a modest income. However, he admitted feeling apprehensive about stepping into such an upscale place.

The actor remembered thinking that it was a place frequented by VIPs and affluent diners, which made him wonder if they would fit in. He recalled concerns about how people might perceive them, whether their attire was appropriate, and how the entire experience would unfold. Despite these doubts, the outing turned into a cherished memory that has stayed with him for decades.

A Tribute to His Mother

This memory surfaced not only in conversation with the contestant but also around the birth anniversary of Bachchan’s late mother, Teji Bachchan. On social media, he paid homage to her, sharing a heartfelt message and a photograph, expressing his wish for her blessings to continue protecting their home. The recollection of the restaurant outing further highlighted the close bond he shared with his parents.

Bachchan also mentioned another moment involving his parents during the shooting of Kabhi Kabhie in Srinagar. Director Yash Chopra had invited them to appear in a scene, where they played the parents of actor Shashi Kapoor’s character.
