Fans are witnessing the biggest face-off in the spy universe between Jr NTR and Hrithik Roshan in War 2. Directed by Ayan Mukerji, the film hit the big screens today (August 14). Despite being an improvement over Tiger 3, it still lands firmly in the average zone with a rating of 2.5 out of 5.

Besides Jr NTR and Hrithik Roshan, War 2 also features Kiara Advani in a completely new role. The film is a sequel to the 2019 action thriller War, which starred Hrithik Roshan, Tiger Shroff, and Vaani Kapoor. Directed by Siddharth Anand, the original War was a major hit, earning Rs 200 crore within its first week and becoming one of the highest-grossing Hindi films of that year.

In War 2, Hrithik returns as the super spy Kabir. The movie also stars Ashutosh Rana and is part of Yash Raj Films’ expanding Spy Universe, which includes Salman Khan’s Tiger series, Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan, and Alia Bhatt’s upcoming film Alpha. The sequel will release in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil.

War 2 is also director Ayan Mukerji’s first movie outside of Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, as the film is produced by Aditya Chopra’s Yash Raj Films.
