Son of Sardaar 2 has received mixed reviews
Son Of Sardaar 2’ has hit theatres, bringing back Ajay Devgn as Jassi — a man pretending to be a war hero to help a young woman win her boyfriend’s family’s approval for marriage.

A sequel to the 2012 hit Son of Sardaar, which was praised for its humour and box office success, the follow-up has received mixed reactions from both critics and audiences.

The Hindustan Times gave it three stars, calling it a film that “fully embraces its nonsense, and it somehow works.” In contrast, The Indian Express rated it two stars, commenting that the sequel is only "slightly better than the first one."

According to The Times of India, the film's first half offers some entertainment, but the plot soon becomes overstuffed with characters and comedy tracks. “Some of the humour misses the mark — like Jassi watching Raja’s aged Russian stepmom pole dance. Routine song-and-dance sequences drag the narrative without adding to the plot. The climax is convoluted, predictable, and over-dramatised,” the review added.

Audience reactions on social media are mixed as well. One X user commented: “#SonOfSardaar2 Review: A full-on #AjayDevgn show with desi comedy and family drama. #MrunalThakur looks stunning and delivers a solid performance. Some scenes feel stretched, but overall it’s a fun ride that gives the same entertainment as part one. Recommended.”

Another fan wrote: “#SonOfSardaar2 It’s a wonderful movie — lots of comedy, lots of laughing moments. It’s a complete family entertainer. A must-watch.”

However, one brutally honest reaction has gone viral.

In a hilarious video doing the rounds on X, a man deadpans: "I was bitten by a street dog, people beat me up, and even my family begged me to watch anything but Son of Sardaar 2… but I was a fool. There’s nothing good in the film except the interval and the exit."
